Acclimation Guide

1. Prepare Your Aquarium

Make sure your aquarium is fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, and the temperature is suitable for your new fish.

2. Start Drip Acclimation

Place your fish and their transport water into a clean container. Using airline tubing, slowly drip water from your aquarium into the container at approximately 2–4 drops per second.

3. Slowly Add Aquarium Water

Over the next 30–60 minutes, allow the water volume to approximately double. This helps your fish gradually adjust to their new water conditions.

4. Transfer Your Fish

Gently net your fish into their new aquarium. Avoid adding transport water to your tank.

5. Give Them Time to Settle

Keep the aquarium lights off for a few hours and wait until the following day before feeding.

White Cloud Mountain Minnows are delicate freshwater fish with a silvery body accented by a subtle iridescent sheen and a faint golden-green stripe along its sides. Its slender, streamlined shape, dark reflective eyes, and translucent fins with hints of red and white give it a graceful and elegant appearance.

Scientific name: Tanichthys albonubes
Approximate size: 3–4 cm
Temperament: Peaceful, active, and social; best kept in groups of 6–10 or more
Recommended tank size: 40 L or larger for a small group
Diet: Omnivorous; quality flakes, micro-pellets, daphnia, baby brine shrimp, small insect larvae, and other tiny live or frozen foods
Origin: Southern China, particularly Guangdong Province; related populations have also been reported in northern Vietnam
Basic care information: White Cloud Minnows are hardy schooling fish with a silvery body, iridescent horizontal stripe, and reddish fin markings. Provide open swimming space, plants, and clean, well-oxygenated water. They prefer cooler conditions around 16–24°C with a pH of approximately 6.0–8.0 and often thrive without an aquarium heater if room temperatures remain suitable. Keep them in a group and avoid large or aggressive tankmates. They are best suited to cool-water aquariums rather than consistently warm tropical setups.
