Spotted Silver Dollars have rounded, laterally compressed silver bodies covered with distinctive dark spots, translucent fins, and a deep-bodied shape.

Temperament: Peaceful and active; social schooling fish best kept in groups of 5 or more

Diet: Primarily herbivorous; algae wafers, spirulina, vegetable-based foods, and blanched vegetables. They may also accept quality flakes, pellets, and occasional frozen foods.
Origin: Brazil and French Guiana, particularly the Amazon basin and nearby river systems
Basic care information: Keep in clean, well-oxygenated freshwater around 23–27°C (73–81°F) with a pH of approximately 6.0–7.0. Provide plenty of open swimming space and moderate water movement. Spotted Silver Dollars are active schooling fish and may eat or heavily damage live aquarium plants, so hardy plants or non-live alternatives are recommended.
