Acclimation Guide

1. Prepare Your Aquarium

Make sure your aquarium is fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, and the temperature is suitable for your new fish.

2. Start Drip Acclimation

Place your fish and their transport water into a clean container. Using airline tubing, slowly drip water from your aquarium into the container at approximately 2–4 drops per second.

3. Slowly Add Aquarium Water

Over the next 30–60 minutes, allow the water volume to approximately double. This helps your fish gradually adjust to their new water conditions.

4. Transfer Your Fish

Gently net your fish into their new aquarium. Avoid adding transport water to your tank.

5. Give Them Time to Settle

Keep the aquarium lights off for a few hours and wait until the following day before feeding.

Skunk Corydoras are small freshwater catfish with a pale cream to silvery body marked by a bold dark stripe running from the head along the back toward the tail. Its rounded head, short barbels around the mouth, protective bony plates, and translucent fins give it a distinctive and recognizable appearance.

Scientific name: Hoplisoma arcuatum (formerly Corydoras arcuatus)
Approximate size: 5–6 cm
Temperament: Peaceful and social; best kept in groups of 6 or more.
Recommended tank size: 75 L or larger
Diet: Omnivorous bottom feeder; sinking pellets, algae-free bottom-feeder foods, and frozen or live foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp.
Origin: Upper Amazon River basin, South America
Basic care information: Provide a soft sand substrate to protect the sensitive barbels, along with hiding places, plants, and clean, well-oxygenated water. Maintain a temperature of approximately 22–26°C and a pH of 6.0–7.5. Keep in a group with peaceful tankmates and feed sinking foods that reach the bottom. Like other Corydoras, it should not be relied on to clean up aquarium waste.
