Acclimation Guide

1. Prepare Your Aquarium

Make sure your aquarium is fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, and the temperature is suitable for your new fish.

2. Start Drip Acclimation

Place your fish and their transport water into a clean container. Using airline tubing, slowly drip water from your aquarium into the container at approximately 2–4 drops per second.

3. Slowly Add Aquarium Water

Over the next 30–60 minutes, allow the water volume to approximately double. This helps your fish gradually adjust to their new water conditions.

4. Transfer Your Fish

Gently net your fish into their new aquarium. Avoid adding transport water to your tank.

5. Give Them Time to Settle

Keep the aquarium lights off for a few hours and wait until the following day before feeding.

Pakistan (Yoyo) Loaches are attractive freshwater fish with silvery to pale golden bodies decorated with bold, dark, interconnected markings that resemble the letters “Y” and “O.” Their elongated bodies, pointed snouts, and distinctive patterned coloration give them a striking and recognizable appearance.

Common names: Yoyo Loach, Pakistani Loach, Almora Loach, Reticulated Loach
Scientific name: Botia almorhae (trade specimens may also be sold under Botia lohachata)
Approximate size: 12–15 cm
Temperament: Generally peaceful but active and boisterous; social and best kept in groups of 6 or more
Recommended tank size: 160 L or larger for a group
Diet: Omnivorous with a strong preference for animal foods; sinking pellets, wafers, snails, bloodworms, worms, insect larvae, shrimp, and other small invertebrates
Origin: Northern India and Nepal; related trade specimens may originate from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and Nepal
Basic care information: Provide plenty of swimming space, smooth rocks, driftwood, caves, and other hiding places. Use a soft substrate and maintain clean, well-oxygenated water with moderate flow. Keep around 23–28°C with a pH of approximately 6.0–7.5. Keep them in a group to support natural social behavior. Yoyo Loaches are active bottom-dwellers and effective predators of small pest snails. They may produce clicking sounds when excited or feeding.
