Red Eye Tetras (Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae) are vibrant, schooling fish admired for their shimmering silver bodies and striking metallic-red eyes that give them their “lamp eye” name. Their subtle iridescence and energetic swimming make them a lively addition to planted and community aquariums, where their flashes of colour catch the light beautifully.

Best kept in schools, Lamp Eye Tetras thrive in mature, well-established aquariums with open swimming areas, gentle water flow, and plenty of plant cover or driftwood. Their peaceful nature and active schooling behaviour make them ideal companions for other small to medium community fish.
