Turquoise Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia lacustris) are striking freshwater rainbowfish admired for their brilliant turquoise-blue colouration, shimmering bodies, and active schooling behaviour. Their vivid appearance makes them an excellent feature fish for spacious planted community aquariums.

They thrive in well-maintained aquariums with stable water quality, good filtration, moderate water movement, and plenty of open swimming space. Plants and natural décor can provide shelter around the edges while leaving plenty of room for active swimming. Best kept in groups, they display their natural social behaviour, with males often developing particularly intense colouration when displaying.
