Acclimation Guide
Acclimation Guide
1. Prepare Your Aquarium
Make sure your aquarium is fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, and the temperature is suitable for your new fish.
2. Start Drip Acclimation
Place your fish and their transport water into a clean container. Using airline tubing, slowly drip water from your aquarium into the container at approximately 2–4 drops per second.
3. Slowly Add Aquarium Water
Over the next 30–60 minutes, allow the water volume to approximately double. This helps your fish gradually adjust to their new water conditions.
4. Transfer Your Fish
Gently net your fish into their new aquarium. Avoid adding transport water to your tank.
5. Give Them Time to Settle
Keep the aquarium lights off for a few hours and wait until the following day before feeding.
Important: Arrived with an issue?
If any fish arrive dead (DOA), keep the transport bag sealed and contact us within 24 hours with clear photos of the fish inside the unopened bag.
See our DOA Policy for more information.

L144 Longfin Blue Eye Lemon Bristlenose Plecos are striking freshwater catfish with bright lemon-yellow to golden bodies and distinctive blue eyes. Their flattened, armored bodies, bristle-like growths around the snout, sucker-shaped mouths, and long flowing fins give them a vibrant and elegant appearance.
Common names: L144 Longfin Blue Eye Lemon Bristlenose Pleco, Lemon Blue-Eye Bristlenose
Scientific name: Ancistrus sp. (often sold as L144; the trade name does not identify a formally confirmed species)
Approximate size: 10–13 cm
Temperament: Generally peaceful; may be territorial toward other plecos, especially around caves.
Recommended tank size: 75–100 L or larger
Diet: Omnivorous, with a strong preference for plant matter; algae wafers, sinking pleco pellets, blanched zucchini, and other vegetables. Offer meaty foods sparingly.
Origin: Captive-bred aquarium variety; wild ancestors originate from South America.
Basic care information: Provide a mature, well-oxygenated aquarium with driftwood, caves, and hiding places. Maintain a temperature of approximately 22–27°C and a pH of 6.5–7.5. Supplement natural algae and biofilm with a varied diet, as algae alone is not sufficient. The long fins and lemon coloration are selectively bred traits. The L144 label is widely used in the aquarium trade, although the lemon blue-eye variety is often distinguished from the original L144 fish in specialist references.
