They thrive in well-maintained aquariums with stable, clean, well-oxygenated water, plenty of driftwood, caves, plants, and shaded hiding places. They are primarily nocturnal and often spend the daytime tucked among wood or other shelters before becoming more active after dark. They may be kept singly or in small groups, provided sufficient hiding places are available.
