Cobalt Blue Zebra Cichlids (Maylandia callainos) are striking Lake Malawi mbuna admired for their vivid cobalt-blue colouration, robust body shape, and active rock-dwelling behaviour. Their intense colour and bold personality make them a popular choice for dedicated African cichlid aquariums.

They thrive in well-maintained aquariums with stable, hard, alkaline water, strong filtration, good oxygenation, and plenty of rocks and caves to create territories and hiding places. Like many mbuna, they can be territorial, so providing adequate space, extensive rockwork, and carefully selected tankmates is important.

Feed a predominantly vegetable-based diet of quality mbuna pellets and flakes, supplemented with suitable algae-based foods to support healthy growth and condition.
