Acclimation Guide

1. Prepare Your Aquarium

Make sure your aquarium is fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, and the temperature is suitable for your new fish.

2. Start Drip Acclimation

Place your fish and their transport water into a clean container. Using airline tubing, slowly drip water from your aquarium into the container at approximately 2–4 drops per second.

3. Slowly Add Aquarium Water

Over the next 30–60 minutes, allow the water volume to approximately double. This helps your fish gradually adjust to their new water conditions.

4. Transfer Your Fish

Gently net your fish into their new aquarium. Avoid adding transport water to your tank.

5. Give Them Time to Settle

Keep the aquarium lights off for a few hours and wait until the following day before feeding.

Important: Arrived with an issue?

If any fish arrive dead (DOA), keep the transport bag sealed and contact us within 24 hours with clear photos of the fish inside the unopened bag.

See our DOA Policy for more information.

Bumblebee Gobies are small, distinctive fish with a yellow to golden body marked by bold black or dark brown bands resembling a bumblebee's pattern. Its compact body, broad head, prominent eyes, and fan-shaped pectoral fins give it a charming and recognizable appearance.

Common names: Bumblebee Goby, Bumblebee Fish, Banded Goby
Scientific name: Brachygobius spp. (several similar species are sold under this trade name)
Approximate size: 2.5–4 cm, depending on species
Temperament: Generally peaceful but males may be territorial; best kept in a small group with suitable tankmates
Recommended tank size: 40–60 L or larger for a small group
Diet: Carnivorous micro-predator; prefers live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, baby brine shrimp, daphnia, cyclops, and small insect larvae; may refuse dry foods
Origin: South and Southeast Asia, including parts of India, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, depending on species
Basic care information: Bumblebee Gobies are tiny bottom-dwelling fish with distinctive yellow and black bands. Provide a mature aquarium with fine sand, smooth rocks, small caves, and gentle water movement. Maintain stable, well-oxygenated water around 24–28°C with a pH suited to the identified species. Water requirements vary: some species are freshwater fish, while others are associated with brackish habitats. Confirm the exact species and the supplier's water conditions before choosing freshwater or brackish care. Offer small live or frozen foods and watch feeding closely, as they can struggle to compete with faster fish.
