Acclimation Guide
Acclimation Guide
1. Prepare Your Aquarium
Make sure your aquarium is fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, and the temperature is suitable for your new fish.
2. Start Drip Acclimation
Place your fish and their transport water into a clean container. Using airline tubing, slowly drip water from your aquarium into the container at approximately 2–4 drops per second.
3. Slowly Add Aquarium Water
Over the next 30–60 minutes, allow the water volume to approximately double. This helps your fish gradually adjust to their new water conditions.
4. Transfer Your Fish
Gently net your fish into their new aquarium. Avoid adding transport water to your tank.
5. Give Them Time to Settle
Keep the aquarium lights off for a few hours and wait until the following day before feeding.
Important: Arrived with an issue?
If any fish arrive dead (DOA), keep the transport bag sealed and contact us within 24 hours with clear photos of the fish inside the unopened bag.
See our DOA Policy for more information.

Dwarf Pea Puffers are small, colorful freshwater fish with yellow to golden-green bodies covered in distinctive dark green or black spots. Their compact, rounded bodies, large expressive eyes, and tiny translucent fins give them a charming and distinctive appearance.
Common names: Dwarf Pea Puffer, Pea Puffer, Indian Dwarf Puffer, Pygmy Puffer
Scientific name: Carinotetraodon travancoricus
Approximate size: 2.5–3.5 cm
Temperament: Territorial and potentially aggressive despite its small size; may nip fins and attack other fish. Best kept in a species-only aquarium.
Recommended tank size: 40 L or larger for a small group, with dense planting and visual barriers
Diet: Carnivorous; small snails, bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp, and other small live or frozen invertebrates
Origin: Southwestern India, particularly Kerala and southern Karnataka
Basic care information: Provide a mature, densely planted freshwater aquarium with plenty of hiding places, visual barriers, and gentle filtration. Maintain stable water around 22–28°C with a pH of approximately 6.5–8.0. Feed a varied diet of small live or frozen foods, including snails to help wear down their continuously growing beak. They may refuse dry foods and can prey on ornamental shrimp and small snails. Avoid typical community setups because they may nip or injure tankmates. A secure lid is recommended. The species is assessed as Vulnerable in the wild, so captive-bred specimens are preferable when available.
