Acclimation Guide

1. Prepare Your Aquarium

Make sure your aquarium is fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, and the temperature is suitable for your new fish.

2. Start Drip Acclimation

Place your fish and their transport water into a clean container. Using airline tubing, slowly drip water from your aquarium into the container at approximately 2–4 drops per second.

3. Slowly Add Aquarium Water

Over the next 30–60 minutes, allow the water volume to approximately double. This helps your fish gradually adjust to their new water conditions.

4. Transfer Your Fish

Gently net your fish into their new aquarium. Avoid adding transport water to your tank.

5. Give Them Time to Settle

Keep the aquarium lights off for a few hours and wait until the following day before feeding.

Dwarf Chain Loaches are slender freshwater fish with a pale golden to silvery body covered in dark, interconnected chain-like markings. Their elongated bodies, rounded fins, and distinctive patterned coloration give them a delicate and eye-catching appearance.

Common names: Dwarf Chain Loach, Chain Loach, Sidthimunki Loach, Pygmy Loach
Scientific name: Ambastaia sidthimunki
Approximate size: 5–6 cm
Temperament: Peaceful, highly active, and social; best kept in groups of 6 or more
Recommended tank size: 75 L or larger for a group
Diet: Omnivorous; sinking pellets, wafers, bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp, and small snails
Origin: Western Thailand, including the Mae Klong basin, with populations associated with the Thai-Myanmar border region
Basic care information: Provide plenty of open swimming space, hiding places, smooth rocks, driftwood, and a soft substrate. Maintain clean, well-oxygenated water with moderate flow and stable conditions around 24–28°C and pH 6.0–7.5. Keep them in a group to encourage natural social behavior. They are active during the day and are useful for controlling small pest snails. The species is endangered in the wild, so aquarium specimens should be captive-bred whenever possible.
