Acclimation Guide
Acclimation Guide
1. Prepare Your Aquarium
Make sure your aquarium is fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, and the temperature is suitable for your new fish.
2. Start Drip Acclimation
Place your fish and their transport water into a clean container. Using airline tubing, slowly drip water from your aquarium into the container at approximately 2–4 drops per second.
3. Slowly Add Aquarium Water
Over the next 30–60 minutes, allow the water volume to approximately double. This helps your fish gradually adjust to their new water conditions.
4. Transfer Your Fish
Gently net your fish into their new aquarium. Avoid adding transport water to your tank.
5. Give Them Time to Settle
Keep the aquarium lights off for a few hours and wait until the following day before feeding.
Important: Arrived with an issue?
If any fish arrive dead (DOA), keep the transport bag sealed and contact us within 24 hours with clear photos of the fish inside the unopened bag.
See our DOA Policy for more information.

Blue Badis are colorful freshwater fish with blue to blue-green bodies accented by iridescent scales and subtle dark vertical markings. Their compact bodies, pointed snouts, and fan-shaped fins create a distinctive appearance, with males often displaying more intense blue coloration and reddish accents.
Common names: Blue Badis, Blue Perch, Dwarf Chameleon Fish
Scientific name: Badis badis
Approximate size: 5–7 cm
Temperament: Generally peaceful but territorial, especially males; may prey on very small shrimp and fish fry
Recommended tank size: 60–75 L for a pair or small group, with plenty of hiding places
Diet: Carnivorous; prefers live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp, and small insect larvae; some individuals may accept suitable prepared foods
Origin: South Asia, including India, Bangladesh, and Nepal
Basic care information: Provide a mature, planted aquarium with a sand or fine-gravel substrate, smooth stones, driftwood, leaf litter, and small caves. Maintain stable water around 20–25°C with a pH of approximately 6.0–7.5. Blue Badis are slow, deliberate hunters and may refuse dry foods, so offer a varied diet of small live or frozen invertebrates. Males develop stronger blue, red, and dark markings, while females are generally duller. Avoid housing them with large, aggressive, or very fast-feeding tankmates.
