Acclimation Guide
Acclimation Guide
1. Prepare Your Aquarium
Make sure your aquarium is fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, and the temperature is suitable for your new fish.
2. Start Drip Acclimation
Place your fish and their transport water into a clean container. Using airline tubing, slowly drip water from your aquarium into the container at approximately 2–4 drops per second.
3. Slowly Add Aquarium Water
Over the next 30–60 minutes, allow the water volume to approximately double. This helps your fish gradually adjust to their new water conditions.
4. Transfer Your Fish
Gently net your fish into their new aquarium. Avoid adding transport water to your tank.
5. Give Them Time to Settle
Keep the aquarium lights off for a few hours and wait until the following day before feeding.
Important: Arrived with an issue?
If any fish arrive dead (DOA), keep the transport bag sealed and contact us within 24 hours with clear photos of the fish inside the unopened bag.
See our DOA Policy for more information.

Desert Gobies are distinctive freshwater fish with sandy beige to golden-brown bodies accented by subtle darker mottling and speckled markings. Their elongated bodies, broad heads, prominent eyes, and fan-shaped pectoral fins give them a sturdy and recognizable appearance.
Common names: Desert Goby, Australian Desert Goby, Lake Eyre Goby
Scientific name: Chlamydogobius eremius
Approximate size: 5–6 cm
Temperament: Generally peaceful but territorial, especially among males defending caves during breeding
Recommended tank size: 60 L or larger for a small group
Diet: Primarily carnivorous; frozen or live bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, small insect larvae, and suitable sinking foods
Origin: Lake Eyre drainage basin, South Australia, Australia
Basic care information: Desert Gobies are hardy Australian freshwater fish adapted to naturally variable environments. Males often display darker bodies with striking blue and yellow markings on their fins, while females are generally less colorful. Provide a sandy substrate, rocks, caves, and hiding places, with clean, well-filtered water. Maintain a temperature around 20–28°C, a pH of approximately 7.0–8.5, and moderate to hard water. Keep multiple caves and visual barriers to reduce aggression between males. Although they tolerate a wide range of salinity in the wild, adding salt is not essential for aquarium care. A secure lid is recommended.
