Acclimation Guide

1. Prepare Your Aquarium

Make sure your aquarium is fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, and the temperature is suitable for your new fish.

2. Start Drip Acclimation

Place your fish and their transport water into a clean container. Using airline tubing, slowly drip water from your aquarium into the container at approximately 2–4 drops per second.

3. Slowly Add Aquarium Water

Over the next 30–60 minutes, allow the water volume to approximately double. This helps your fish gradually adjust to their new water conditions.

4. Transfer Your Fish

Gently net your fish into their new aquarium. Avoid adding transport water to your tank.

5. Give Them Time to Settle

Keep the aquarium lights off for a few hours and wait until the following day before feeding.

The L136 Demini Angelicus Pleco is a striking freshwater catfish with a dark, elongated body covered in contrasting pale spots and markings. It has a broad, flattened head, armored body plates, and a sucker-shaped mouth adapted for clinging to surfaces and grazing on algae and biofilm.

Scientific name: Hypancistrus sp. L136
Approximate size: 10–13 cm
Temperament: Peaceful but territorial toward other bottom-dwelling males; generally suitable with peaceful tankmates
Recommended tank size: 100 L or larger
Diet: Omnivorous; sinking carnivore pellets, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and other protein-rich foods, with some vegetable-based foods
Origin: Rio Demini, Rio Negro basin, Brazil
Basic care information: Provide clean, warm, well-oxygenated water with caves, driftwood, rocks, and shaded areas for hiding. Maintain good water flow and excellent water quality. L136 is mainly nocturnal and is most active around dusk and after dark. The species occurs in several pattern forms, including L136A, L136B, and L136C.
