Acclimation Guide

1. Prepare Your Aquarium

Make sure your aquarium is fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, and the temperature is suitable for your new fish.

2. Start Drip Acclimation

Place your fish and their transport water into a clean container. Using airline tubing, slowly drip water from your aquarium into the container at approximately 2–4 drops per second.

3. Slowly Add Aquarium Water

Over the next 30–60 minutes, allow the water volume to approximately double. This helps your fish gradually adjust to their new water conditions.

4. Transfer Your Fish

Gently net your fish into their new aquarium. Avoid adding transport water to your tank.

5. Give Them Time to Settle

Keep the aquarium lights off for a few hours and wait until the following day before feeding.

The L134 Leopard Frog Pleco is a striking freshwater catfish with a golden-yellow to orange body decorated with bold dark brown to black stripes and maze-like markings. Its flattened, armored body, broad head, sucker-shaped mouth, and patterned fins give it a distinctive leopard-like appearance.

Scientific name: Peckoltia compta
Approximate size: 10–11 cm
Temperament: Generally peaceful but may be territorial toward other bottom-dwelling fish, especially around caves
Recommended tank size: 110 L or larger for one adult
Diet: Omnivorous, with a preference for meaty foods; sinking pellets, catfish wafers, bloodworms, brine shrimp, and blanched vegetables
Origin: Rio Tapajós basin, Pará State, Brazil, South America
Basic care information: The L134 Leopard Frog Pleco is a small, patterned pleco with a yellowish or cream body and dark brown to black stripes and spots. Its markings often become more spotted as it matures. Provide a mature aquarium with strong filtration, good oxygenation, moderate to strong water flow, driftwood, rocks, and caves for hiding. Maintain stable water around 25–30°C with a pH of approximately 6.0–7.4. Feed a varied diet and do not rely on algae alone, as this species prefers meaty foods. Provide multiple caves and hiding places if keeping more than one pleco.
