Acclimation Guide

1. Prepare Your Aquarium

Make sure your aquarium is fully cycled, with 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, and the temperature is suitable for your new fish.

2. Start Drip Acclimation

Place your fish and their transport water into a clean container. Using airline tubing, slowly drip water from your aquarium into the container at approximately 2–4 drops per second.

3. Slowly Add Aquarium Water

Over the next 30–60 minutes, allow the water volume to approximately double. This helps your fish gradually adjust to their new water conditions.

4. Transfer Your Fish

Gently net your fish into their new aquarium. Avoid adding transport water to your tank.

5. Give Them Time to Settle

Keep the aquarium lights off for a few hours and wait until the following day before feeding.

Important: Arrived with an issue?

If any fish arrive dead (DOA), keep the transport bag sealed and contact us within 24 hours with clear photos of the fish inside the unopened bag.

See our DOA Policy for more information.

Panda Angelfish are striking freshwater fish with a silvery-white body accented by bold black patches across the head, body, and fins. Its tall, laterally compressed body, long flowing dorsal and anal fins, and elegant triangular profile create a distinctive black-and-white appearance.

Common names: Panda Angelfish, Panda Marble Angelfish
Scientific name: Pterophyllum scalare — selectively bred panda-pattern variety
Approximate size: 12–15 cm body length; up to 20–25 cm in total height, including fins
Temperament: Semi-peaceful; may become territorial during breeding and may eat very small fish
Recommended tank size: 200 L or larger for a small group, with a tall aquarium
Diet: Omnivorous; quality flakes and pellets, bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, and other small meaty foods
Origin: The wild species originates from the Amazon Basin and other river systems in tropical South America; the panda pattern is developed through captive breeding
Basic care information: Panda Angelfish are a selectively bred color variety of freshwater angelfish, typically displaying contrasting dark and light patches. Pattern and coloration can vary between individuals. Provide a tall, planted aquarium with driftwood, broad-leaved plants, and open swimming space. Maintain stable water around 25–29°C with a pH of approximately 6.0–7.5. Feed a varied diet and avoid fin-nipping tankmates or fish small enough to be swallowed. Angelfish may become territorial when forming pairs or spawning, so provide adequate space and hiding places.
